Well, the market is being predictable. Yeah! We have 30 single family homes on the market in 20171 - very low but the same as last week. It will probably get lower as we go through December but my prediction is that we will see an increase in inventory starting in mid-January and we will see significantly more listings as we go through the first few months of the year. I have personally been on several listing appointments this month - many more than I have in Decembers gone by. December is usually very quiet - a great time to get Christmas shopping done. I also spoke to another agent that lists a lot of homes in Reston and she says that she has definitely been on a lot of listing appointments this month. I think sellers are feeling more comfortable with the market and the fact that prices are relatively stable. I think this will continue until we see the end of the government's home purchase incentive for first time buyers and move up buyers. When we did not have this incentive at the beginning of this year, we still had falling prices so we will have to see what happens in June when the incentive goes away. Right now, sellers who are thinking of selling - should take advantage of the current market. It is hard to time when to sell - very similar to trying to time when to sell in the stock market.
